Celia Benton, Economic Development Manager
Celia Benton is the Economic Development Manager at LBWN. She brings over four years of experience in urban planning and community and economic development including two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador where she focused on economic development projects while becoming fluent in Spanish. Afterwards, she received her Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University where she concentrated her studies on immigrant economic development as well as a fellowship with the Ministry of Tourism in Belize. Since moving to Milwaukee, she has fallen in love with the Southside and is excited about promoting the fabulous commercial districts in the LBWN area.

Shannon Boone, Director of Real Estate Development
Shannon comes to LBWN with 13 years of experience enhancing the quality of life in urban neighborhoods through housing rehabilitation and grassroots development. Shannon has an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies and is pursuing a Master’s in Public Affairs from Indiana University, School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Formerly a general contractor in Indianapolis, Shannon came to Milwaukee in 2010 to work for the City of Milwaukee-NIDC as a Housing Rehabilitation Specialist. She and her partner John made their home in the National Park neighborhood where they love the history, architecture and cheerful neighbors. She is excited to utilize her creativity, design skills and knowledge of historic preservation in the neighborhood.

As a lifelong resident and volunteer in the Milwaukee community, Cinthia has developed a passion in community development work in order to assist those around her on a more direct level. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from Alverno College, but through her experience abroad, decided that she wanted to work in the city she grew up in. Before coming to LBWN, Cinthia has worked on several neighborhood revitalization projects and safety events. She’s very excited to work in the Silver City, Burnham Park, and Layton Park neighborhoods.

Beth Lee is the Director of Fund Development & Communications at LBWN. She brings over seven years of experience in both domestic and international community development including three years as a Connecting People’s Coordinator in Nicaragua through the Mennonite Central Committee where she focused on cultural bridge building, all while completing a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership concentrated in International Development. Her undergraduate degree is in Management of Health & Fitness from Northern Michigan University, with which she utilized working for the YMCA for over 8 years prior to moving to Nicaragua. Beth and her husband moved to Milwaukee in the summer of 2015.

Lisa Mecha, Finance Manager
Lisa joined Layton Boulevard West Neighbors in May 2003. She has over twenty years of experience in the field of accounting in the not for profit area. Lisa has an Associate Degree in Accounting and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting Degree in May 2008.
She enjoys the challenge of managing a diverse funding portfolio and a variety of grants, from both the government and private sector.

Gisela Ortega, Community Outreach Manager (Silver City Neighborhood)
Gisela joined LBWN in the summer of 2016 as Community Outreach Manager. She was born in San Francisco’s Mission District. Inspired by her upbringing and community involvement in Hispanic communities, Gisela comes to Milwaukee with great optimism and hope for her new home. She received undergraduate degrees in both Global Studies and Spanish from Ripon College. Prior to LBWN, she spent time working at Select Milwaukee, where she helped organize their homebuyer education and financial fitness programs.
At LBWN, Gisela works with neighborhood residents to connect them to a variety of resources, along with planning events such as the International Festival.

Lincoln Rice, Accounting Assistant
Lincoln joined Layton Boulevard West Neighbors in June 2015. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting Degree in 1999 and has previous experience as a business manager and bookkeeper for Catholic parishes in the Milwaukee area.
Lincoln appreciates working for a team whose mission is to build strong and healthy neighborhoods in the city he loves.

Brianna Sas-Pérez, Executive Director
Brianna joined LBWN in early 2013 as LBWN’s Community Outreach Manager. At LBWN, she has cultivated LBWN’s relationships with a diverse set of partners including neighborhood residents, community organizations, the City of Milwaukee, and private and public investors. Throughout this time, Brianna has developed new strategies to incorporate the neighborhood voice in LBWN’s ongoing efforts, leveraged over $2.5 million in neighborhood housing investment, and worked with public and private partners to plan and implement large-scale public space improvement projects such as streetscaping on Historic Layton Boulevard and Pierce Street, planned improvements to Burnham Park and the installation of neighborhood signage.
Brianna graduated from Calvin College with an interdisciplinary degree in art and engineering, and without intentions of being an artist or engineer. She is passionate about community development work and is thankful to do it in the Silver City, Burnham Park and Layton neighborhoods as part of such a great team!

Jonatan Zuñiga, Community Outreach Manager (Burnham Park & Layton Park)
Jonatan joined LBWN in the summer of 2015 as the Community Outreach Manager. Jonatan developed a profound interest in community and economic development through his education, his experiences as a volunteer in community organizations and his experiences as a lifelong resident of the South Side of Milwaukee.
Jonatan graduated from one of our neighborhood schools, Carmen High School of Science and Technology and from UW-Milwaukee with a Major in Urban Studies and a minor in General Business. He volunteered with a variety of community and political initiatives including La Luz del Mundo Family Services, Southside Organizing Committee, and Youth Empowered in the Struggle, to improve the quality of life of residents throughout the city of Milwaukee.
At LBWN, Jonatan works with neighborhood residents to connect them with resources to assist them in a variety of activities including: community safety initiatives and much more.
