Block Clubs
Block clubs are low maintenance and fun ways to get to know your
neighbors and proactively make your neighborhood that ideal
place you want to live. On blocks with block clubs, neighbors have
stronger social connections, which makes living on their block
more enjoyable, fun, and safe!

Block groups consist of neighbors living in the same area who
want to take action and address their visions and concerns in an
effective way. With the help of organized block groups,
neighborhoods become safe and healthy living communities for
children, adults, and seniors. When desired, LBWN staff will meet
Block Improvement Projects
Beautify the area you live in! Block Improvement Projects are a fun way
to unite neighbors and enhance the positive identity of a block. Garden
projects, porch projects, and solar alley lighting projects are examples
of what active block groups have done before.

Neighborhoods with well kept homes, lawns, and gardens not only
increase the level of pride neighbors have for their community but it
also brings responsible homeowners into our neighborhood and deters
crime!
Organize your neighbors to do a block project today!
with block group members to talk about any issues that have come up or any ideas, such as a spring clean
up or a block party, that have peaked members interest.
Examples of past events block groups have organized:

Block rummage sale
  • Get as many people to have rummage sales in their front
yard. Children can sell lemonade, cookies, and more!
Block open house
  • Selling your home? Have a home for sale on your block?
Go door to door to each of your neighbors and invite them
to bring any family or friends they'd like to see as their new
    neighbor!
Block clean ups
  • Invite all neighbors on the block to come out for a block
clean up. A better looking neighborhood brings about a
better image and more responsible homebuyers! Over
time, you will see less litter on your block- when people see
a nice and clean area they won't want to mess it up!
Block Parties
  • Invite all neighbors to bring a dish to pass and enjoy a
beautiful summer day with the neighbors. Set out tables for
the food and beverages. Solicit donations from local
Foreclosure Prevention Resources
There are a number of options available to homeowners at risk of foreclosure.  The earlier in the process
that a homeowner takes action, the more options are available.  Here are three steps you can take if you
think you may have problems paying your mortgage or are already experiencing problems:

  1. Contact your lender or servicer - lenders and servicers are able to work with borrowers to explore
potential options for avoiding foreclosure, including mortgage refinancing under the Federal
Government's new Making Home Affordable Program.
  2. Contact a local non-profit housing counseling agency - there are a number of non-profit
counseling agencies that work in Milwaukee at no cost to residents.  The best place to find a housing
counseling agency that can help you is at Take Root Milwaukee.  Visit a list of housing counseling
agencies at their website or call the Take Root hotline at 414-921-4149.
  3. If you have already received a foreclosure filing, seek mediation - The Milwaukee Foreclosure
Mediation Program provides home owners facing foreclosure an opportunity to request mediation
between the homeowner and lender with help from an impartial mediator.  For more information on
mediation call 414-288-4040 or visit their website at law.marquette.edu/foreclosure
