Sodi Nichols

Sodi is the Assistant Vice President of Residential Mortgage
Lending at Marshall and IIsley M&I bank on the corner of Layton
Boulevard and National Avenue. As someone who grew up in the
neighborhood, and who still works in the neighborhood, Sodi is
excited about the impact she can make at LBWN.

S. Charlotte Smits is a sister with the School Sisters of Saint Francis,
and works at St. Rafael School, a great parter in the LBWN
neighborhood. Sister Charlotte brings great insight on building
relationships with strong, stable partners in the LBWN neighborhood.

Board Member
Gordon worked for P&H Mining for 43 years, retiring about 3 years
ago. Since then he has served in a consulting role for P&H on an
as needed basis. Gordon has been involved with the Silver City
Main Street Program since its inception, presently serving on the
Organization, Promotions, and Fundraising committees. Through
the Silver City Program Gordon learned about LBWN and has now
served 3 years on the Board. Gordon is very active as Vice Chair
of the LBWN Board and also Chair of the Nominating and Board
Development Committee.
Sister Charlita is the Assistant Treasurer for the School Sisters of
St. Francis, the founders of Layton Boulevard West Neighbors, Inc.
She works in the International Offices in Milwaukee and lives in the
neighborhood at 37th & Maple Street. Sister Charlita enjoys
serving on the LBWN board and sharing her many years of
expertise in financial matters.

Steve was invited to serve as a board member of LBWN in 2002. Shortly thereafter, Silver City Main Street
was formed and Steve became a co-chair of the Silver City Organization Committee, and it was a natural step
for Steve to act as a liason between Silver City and Layton Boulevard West Neighbors.
Dr. Perez-Laboy is a principal at Kagel Elementary School on the
South side of Milwaukee, and has been involved with the education of
Milwaukee's youth for many years. He believes that education is at the
root of most things positive and that we must continue educating all
stakeholders in the neighborhood to realize positive, sustainable
change.
Lenard Wells, PhD is the Center Director for Concordia University
Wisconsin Adult Education Milwaukee South/Hales Corners
locations. Dr. Lenard has over thirty years of experience in law
enforcement and corrections. He established a range of
professional and personal involvement in Milwaukee's many diverse
communities. Dr. Lenard joined the LBWN Board in January of 2008.
Mel and her family have lived in the LBWN neighborhood for over 25 years. She is
an author, playwright and guest essayist on Public Radio's Lake Effect. Mel stays
very active in the LBWN neighborhood in a variety of ways, including volunteering
her design and writing expertise with LBWN's 2009 annual report, Executive
Breakfast materials, and the LBWN neighborhood blog.
Mark Wagner is a real estate agent and owner of Liberty Realty
Company. He is also on the board of directors for the City of Milwaukee
Housing Authority. Mark offers his expertise in helping find ways to
attract new home buyers to the LBWN neighborhood.
Steve Kmiec is an attorney with his offices in the LBWN
neighborhood. Kmiec Law Offices have been located at 37th &
National since 1983. During the 90’s when LBWN was first starting,
an employee of LBWN asked Steve to become involved in
organizing the businesses along National Avenue in the Silver City
District. Steve helped with meetings of business and property
owners and to organize efforts to determine common interests and
goals. Community meetings with police were organized and efforts
to re-open store fronts began to pay dividends. A project of

Larry Kilduff is the President and Managing Member of The Kilduff
Company, LLC, a privately held, Mequon, Wisconsin based Real Estate
Development Company. Over the last 23 years, Larry has been
involved in Retail and other Commercial development projects across
the country, totaling millions of square feet and with a total value
reaching the hundreds of millions of dollars. Larry is a nationally
recognized expert in the issues concerning the revitalization of cities and other underserved markets,
Brownfield redevelopment and informing the planning process with Market Realities to generate realistic
and sustainable long term growth in communities. Larry is often called upon to speak and teach on these
issues nationwide.
